7.2.2021 - The Trust

Picture for Thought for the we

If you are members, I imagine that most of you have already received your copy of the National Trust 2021 Handbook and car sticker.  It’s so good to be reminded of all those places which we can’t visit at present but which are still there being cared for as they have been for hundreds of years, and awaiting our return.  I suspect this so reflects much of our experiences at present but it’s good to remind ourselves that nothing really has gone away it will be there on our return.
I think we all realise that whilst many things will remain the same when we come out of our present restricted circumstances, some things will also be different in the future.  This is a challenge to us all, I don’t think God wants us just to go back to what was before, of course we long to get back to the freedom of normality, to be reunited with family, friends and work colleagues, to watch and participate in sport, to visit pubs, eat out again and visit cinemas and theatres, and we will, I am also sure of that. Our father wants us to take those experiences as lessons which are at present so much a part of our everyday life and allow ourselves to be changed in the way we relate to and view and value others.
There is no doubt as we come out of this present and past year we will be different to what we were when we entered into this pandemic and lockdowns.  God wants to use us in new and different ways, he wants us to view and approach life and situations differently.
Jeremiah 29 v11
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’
It’s often so difficult to see this at times when we are dealing with everyday life, sadness, anxiety, frustration, home schooling and isolation and many other circumstances.  We need to try and remind ourselves that all God wants is for us to leave it all in his hands and put our trust in his promises.
God bless have a good week.
