Breakdown at the filling station

Our car broke down last weekend.  We had just filled up at the petrol station in Aylsham on an extremely busy Saturday morning, I got back in the car and tried to start it and got that sinking feeling when nothing happened.  With increasing frustration we tried unsuccessfully again and again and the electronic ignition refused to engage, the brake couldn’t be released and we were stuck at the front of the filling bay with an increasing long line of irritated motorists behind us.  There was nothing we could do but to get out apologise and explain that we were stuck whilst they backed out and jockeyed for alternative pumps.  It was not a good feeling or look.  Fortunately the attendants put some bollards behind us as we sat with a degree of embarrassment, waiting for the breakdown services to arrive some 1 and a 1/2 hours later.

You can image the sense of relief when the breakdown service arrived, the problem was no longer just my own, here was somebody who would know what to do and take control.  Somehow the mechanic managed to find a way to release the brake so we could move out of the bay to a side parking bay.  After some time, it was concluded that the most likely cause was the starter motor and the safest thing would be to get us and the car taken back home, which is what happened.

It’s a simple and obvious connection I know but how many times do we struggle with things and consequences and simply resign ourselves to what’s happening as we just don’t know what to do.  What a relief when somebody comes along and takes all that away and takes control.
I am reminded of the verse in Luke 11 v 9 I tell you, ask and you will receive, seek ,and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you.’

If you need help today call our heavenly mechanic who wants to help.
