2025
The first part of Isaiah 42 is sometimes called The Servant Song and is about the Servant-Messiah. The Messiah Jesus came to show God Himself and bring the knowledge of Him to the world.
However, this passage talks about us and a new year. You may be feeling broken, bruised or burned out in your spiritual life but God in His love won’t step on you or cast you aside as useless. What He will do is to gently pick you up and rest His loving hand on you and guide you. Not only that, He has a plan for your life this new year and could be calling you to do something different, to step out! Look at Chapter 42 verse 16 where it says, (as a paraphrase) “I will lead you by ways you have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide you, I will turn darkness into light before you and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do, I will not forsake you”. What a passage that is, it’s about us trusting in God for this coming year. In verse 6 God says, “I will take hold of your hand”, you see He doesn’t leave us but takes us and leads us. Not only that He’s there through all things and as we read in various parts of the Book of Psalms ─ He will hide me in His sanctuary, He will place me on a high rock, He will shield me, He will protect me and He will cover me in the shadow of His wing.
So in 2025 take heart, you don’t walk into the year fearfully or alone, for God, in His infinite love is there for you. None of us knows the future, but what we do know is that we can talk with the Lord anytime and anywhere because He is only a prayer away!
