Repair Shop
I’m sure many of you have seen ‘The Repair Shop’ programme on television where pre-loved items that have fallen into disrepair can be taken to have them re-built, repainted, mechanisms mended and generally made to be back to their original state. The experts await to do their magic in metal, wood, fabric and stone or whatever material is needed. Once these items have been restored the owners are invited back to see the transformation from the damaged and worn out wrecks to the fully restored and made good pieces. At this point, not only are the owners amazed, but quite often there are tears of joy as passed memories are brought back of happy times gone by.
I don’t know if any of you have still got special items which bring back memories. These items don’t necessarily have great monetary value, but to you they are beyond price, some things money just can’t buy.
Just the other day I reminded somebody how valuable and special they were to our Heavenly Father, even though they had thought so little of themselves. I’m sure they now see themselves through God’s eyes and feel that there is a Father God who values them so highly that He sent His Son to die for them. Some sow seeds, some do the watering but God makes thing develop and grow. You may never have thought about it, and you may never know of the seed you have sown. It may be you have simply told someone that God loves them or shown them unconditional love, or just been beside them in support when times have been difficult or sad. It could well be that another person then waters that seed in some way, thereby building on the seed sown.
We are called to be faithful in our Christian lives as we share the Good News of God’s love. Yet, it is good to know that our Creator God is the One who makes that seed grow and develop. As you share the Gospel you are offering people something that money just can’t buy!
